Elevate Your Expression with Confidence

As time passes, the effects of aging, sun exposure, and stress can cause the brows to droop, creating a tired or aged appearance. Brow lift surgery, also known as a forehead lift or browplasty, is designed to address sagging or drooping eyebrows, forehead wrinkles, and deep furrows. As part of the aging process, the skin loses elasticity, causing the forehead and eyebrows to descend, potentially resulting in a tired or stern expression. By lifting and repositioning the brows, this procedure rejuvenates the upper face, smooths forehead lines, reduces sagging, and opens up the eyes for a refreshed and more youthful appearance.

Who is a Candidate for Brow Lift Surgery?

  • Sagging or Drooping Brows: Individuals with naturally low-set or sagging eyebrows that contribute to a tired or aged appearance.
  • Forehead Wrinkles and Lines: Those with noticeable forehead wrinkles, horizontal lines, or furrows that create an aged or stressed appearance and no longer respond to neuromodulators (Botox or Dysport)
  • Excess Skin on Upper Eyelids: Individuals with excess skin on the upper eyelids, which may lead to hooding and contribute to a heavy or tired look.

Brow Lift with Dr Dadgostar

A brow lift procedure can be performed independently or is frequently combined with eyelid lift or blepharoplasty to revitalize the upper face and the eye area. Various techniques exist for lifting the eyebrows, ranging from the more subtle effects of neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport) to small incisions at the forehead or temples to lift the brow tails. Alternatively, a minimally invasive approach employs an endoscope, effectively lifting the entire forehead. In the presence of glabellar lines, tailored solutions, whether surgical or through neuromodulators, can be considered based on patient preferences. The most suitable brow lift procedure for you will be determined through consultation with Dr. Dadgostar.

Brow Lift Procedure

Dr Dadgostar employs several techniques to achieve your desired brow lift. The best technique for you will be reviewed during your consultation and treatment planning.

Temporal Brow Lift
A temporal brow lift, also known as a lateral brow lift or temporal lift, is designed to elevate and rejuvenate the outer portion of the eyebrows and the surrounding forehead area. This specific type of brow lift targets the lateral or outer corners of the eyebrows, addressing sagging or drooping in that region. Small incisions are made within the temporal hairline, ensuring that any resulting scars are well-concealed. The underlying tissue and muscles in the temporal region are lifted and adjusted to achieve the desired elevation of the outer eyebrows.

Direct Brow Lift
A direct brow lift is designed to address sagging or drooping eyebrows by directly excising excess skin and tissue from the forehead. This technique is considered a more straightforward approach compared to other types of brow lifts. Small incisions are made directly above the eyebrows, within the natural creases or lines of the forehead. The precise location of incisions is determined based on the patient’s facial anatomy and the desired degree of lift. Excess skin and tissue is removed from the forehead through the incisions, effectively lifting and repositioning the eyebrows to a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing position.

Endoscopic Brow Lift
The endoscopic brow lift is an excellent technique for individuals looking to rejuvenate the entire upper third of their face. This technique provides a more holistic lift of a much larger area, rejuvenating the eyes, brow pad, and forehead.

An endoscopic eyebrow lift is minimally invasive surgery where small incisions hidden within the hairline are made to insert an endoscope (camera) and instruments required to release the muscles that cause deep wrinkles and to lift the eyebrows back to their youthful position. In women, the ends of the eyebrows are moved up to create a beautiful arch. Using the camera under the skin, the appropriate muscles are released while visualizing and avoiding damage to important nerves and vessels in the area. Then sutures are used to fixate the forehead and brows in their new lifted position.

All procedures are performed under local anesthetic with sedation unless combined with other procedures and takes approximately 1-2 hours to perform.

Recovery and Post-Operative Care

Recovery and post-operative care are crucial aspects of the brow lift surgery process to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results. Patients are discharged the same day of surgery.

Following surgery, patients are guided through a carefully outlined recovery plan. This typically involves rest with light activities for the first week and taking any prescribed medications for pain management if necessary.

Light activity can be resumed after the first day and most patients can return to work and resume most normal daily activities after 1-2 weeks. Patients are advised to avoid heavy lifting or high impact activities for at least 2 weeks after surgery. A tight dressing is placed on the forehead which is removed 3 days after surgery. Surgical staples or sutures are removed approximately 1 week after surgery.

Patients are asked to sleep with several pillows or to elevate the head of their bed for 2 weeks following surgery to decrease swelling and bruising in the area. Bruising usually resolves within 1-2 weeks after the surgery.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor the healing process, remove any sutures, and address any questions or concerns that may arise.
